SAFE SPACES POLICY & CODE OF CONDUCT

Safe Spaces Policy

Edmonton Unlimited is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in online and in-person programs, events, workspaces, and across all our social media channels.

Together with our community, we are creating and maintaining a respectful environment that is free from discrimination, violence, bullying, harassment, sexual assault, stalking, abuse, and threats.

We expect all visitors, partners, members, event attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, organizers and volunteers to treat others with respect and abide by the following Code of Conduct at all times. This includes social events at off-site locations, online activities and social media before, during and after Edmonton Unlimited activities.

If you experience or witness any forms of unacceptable behaviour that violates this policy or if you have any other concerns, please bring them to the immediate attention of Edmonton Unlimited staff. You can make an electronic report to events@edmontonunlimited.com or anonymously through the REES online reporting system. Every incident reported will be taken seriously and managed with confidentiality.

Code of Conduct

Edmonton Unlimited is dedicated to providing a safe, harassment-free environment for all in-person events, virtual events and across all our social media channels.

We invite you to help us create a welcoming and respectful environment for all participants, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, national origin, ethnicity, or religion.

We expect all participants — attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, organizers and volunteers — to treat others with respect and abide by the following Code of Conduct at all times. This includes social events at off-site locations, online activities and social media before, during and after the event itself.

Unacceptable Behaviours

These behaviours, in any form, will not be tolerated at any time:

  • Harassment

  • Intimidation

  • Abuse

  • Discrimination

  • Use of sexualized language, images, or clothing. This includes presentations, slides, and speaker content.

  • Possession and/or use of illegal substances

  • Possession of an item that can be used as a weapon causing harm to others

Our definition of harassment includes:

  • Unwelcome or hostile behaviour, including verbal or written comments that intimidate, create discomfort, or interfere with a person’s participation at the event

  • Unwelcome physical contact

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

Participants asked to stop unacceptable behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Participants who violate the Code of Conduct may be expelled from the event and related activities without a refund and/or banned from future events at the discretion of the organizers.

If You Experience or Witness Unacceptable Behaviour

We need your help to keep the community safe, accountable and responsible. If you experience or witness any forms of unacceptable behaviour, please bring your concerns to the immediate attention of Edmonton Unlimited staff or contact events@edmontonunlimited.com directly.

The entire Edmonton Unlimited team is dedicated to resolving issues promptly and confidentially. If you have a concern regarding sexualized language, unwelcome sexual attention, or sexual harassment and would prefer to speak directly to a female staff person, events@edmontonunlimited.com.
